HALAL AND HARAAM – Part - I

O ye people! eat of what is on earth Halaal and good; and do not follow the footsteps of Satan for he is to you an avowed enemy. Al-Quraan: 2- 168
In everyone’s life there are two boundaries one is the Halaal boundary and the other is the Haraam boundary as long as one is in the Halaal boundary he or she is in the right path, the path of Allah and every small ammal (deed ) they do like moving a thorn or stone from the path, or smiling at someone, or eating, or sleeping, or passing toilet & cleaning, or saying salaam to someone Allah rewards them enormously with huge amounts of virtues to such great extents that one could never imagine or compute the amount of virtues for these deeds. For example if one says Subhanallah once i.e (Allah is most perfectly pure) then Allah fills half of the Mizan scale with virtues and Mizan scale is a scale that could weigh the seven heavens and seven earths at one time; and if a person says Alhumdulillah (all praise belongs only to Allah) Allah fills the other half of the Mizan scale, and if one utters Allah hu Akbar (Allah is great) Allah fills the heavens and earth completely with virtues for the one who recites it.

Allah’s Messenger Muhammed (s.a.w) said Tasbeeh stating that Subhanallah is half the Mizan scale, and praise be to Allah (Alhumdulillah) fills it completely; Allahu Akbar fills the space between the Heaven and Earth, fasting is the half of Endurance and cleanliness is half of faith. Tirmidhi-296.

Allah not only gives us these enormous amount of virtues but also wipes out our sins also i.e. when we make ablution Allah wipes out the sins we have committed with our hands, mouth, eyes, ears, and legs,

Apostle of Allah, tell me about ablution also. He said: He who uses water for ablution, rinses his mouth, snuffs up water and blows it out, the sins of his face, his mouth and his nostrils will be washed away. When he washes his face, as Allah has commanded him, the sins of his face are carried away from the end of his beard with the water. Then (when) he washes his forearms up to the elbows, the sins of his arms are carried away with the water from his finger-tips. When he wipes his head, the sins of his head are carried away from the ends of his hair with the water. And (when) he washes his feet up to the ankles, the sins of his feet are carried away from his toes with the water. And if he stands to pray and praises Allah, lauds Him, glorifies Him with what becomes Him and shows wholehearted devotion to Allah, his sins will depart, leaving him (as innocent) as he was on the day his mother bore him.
Sahih-Muslim
Hadith 1812 Narrated-by
Amr ibn Abasah Sulami

So also a believing man or women have all their sins wiped out when they face some calamity or the other:

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "The believing man or woman continues to have affliction in person, property and children so that they may finally meet Allah, free from sin."
Al-Tirmidhi-Hadith
Hadith 1567 Narrated-by
AbuHurayrah
Allah purifies us from our sins and keeps multiplying our virtues to such great extents that one could never imagine as to how much Allah gives virtues for each of our good deeds.

Allah has also made certain of our deeds Fard (compulsory) not because He is gaining anything from it if we perform it, or loose something if we do not perform it; but it is totally for our benefit only, if we do it we gain and if we don’t we lose, to such great enormous amounts such as one could never never imagine as to how great was his gain or loss, for Allah wants us to use these opportunities and save enough virtues and save ourselves from the wretched hell and make ourselves worthy of the Paradise that Allah has prepared for us.

We should also understand that all these enormous amount of virtues come to us only when we stay in the HALAAL boundary, for if we step outside this boundary we automatically fall into the Haraam boundary (Haraam, Kufr, Shirk) and how ever big our deeds may be, we don’t ever get even a single virtue for it. For Haraam boundary is the boundary of Satan and Allah abhors and hates sharing anything with Satan, i.e. even if a person does Haj, or Umrah, or builds great masjids and madarasas prays all his life and fasts regularly or does any good deeds if one is in the Haraam boundary they will not earn even one single virtue for their deed. This life we spend on this earth is a life of total freedom and one has to choose between Allah and Satan totally out of his own free will and then stick to the Halaal boundary by following the Quran and Hadees; the words of Allah and the path of Prophet (s.a.w) the richest of paths for none in this world could have ever traced out a path so very crystal clear, faultless, flawless, and a path most complete; and above all it remains the LATEST OF THE LATEST path for all times and for the time to come; if one wants to enjoy the MAGNANIMOUS virtues Allah gives for every small or big good deed in ones life.

Kindly don’t miss the part II of Halaal & Haraam document.

Halaal And Haraam – part II

Most people are of the opinion that Haraam means eating pork or drinking liquor or involving in usury and worshiping idols are shirk; I don’t say that they are wrong but one should also understand that disobeying Allah is also Haraam, for they should understand that it is Satan who makes them disobey Allah and disobeying Allah and obeying Satan also amounts to Haraam and sometimes to Shirk. For example Allah says in the Quran:

therefore fear not men but fear Me (Allah) and sell not My Signs (verses of the Quran) for a miserable price. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed they are (no better than) unbelievers.
Quran – 5 : 44

Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w) said “ read the Quran, understand it, but do not use it (the recitation of the Quran) as a source of earning your livelihood, and do not eat by it”. (Hadees: Ahmed, & Taffrani)
I taught some persons of the people of Suffah writing and the Qur'an. A man of them presented to me a bow. I said: It cannot be reckoned property; may I shoot with it in Allah's path? I must come to the Apostle of of Allah (peace be upon him) and ask him (about it). So I came to him and said : Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him), one of those whom I have been teaching writing and the Qur'an has presented me a bow, and as it cannot be reckoned property, may I shoot with it in Allah's path? He said: If you want to have a necklace of fire on you, accept it.
Sunan-Abu-Dawood
Hadith 3409 Narrated-by
Ubaydah ibn as-Samit
So one could see it crystal clear that Allah and His Prophet (s.a.w) have made selling the ayaths (verses) of the holy Quran – HARAAM, please understand printing and binding and selling the Holy Quran is not in the least prohibited, it is only reading the verses of The Quran or teaching the verses of the Holy Quran and then taking money for it is prohibited both in the Quran and Hadees . Now tell me could one conduct Salah (Prayer) without reading the verses of the Quran, and if that Alim asks for a salary for conducting the Salah is it not totally Haraam, and if people give a salary to him that too is Haraam, and if people pray behind him that too is Haraam, for Muhammed (S.a.w.) said:

I heard the Messenger of Allah as saying: He who amongst you sees a wrong or Haraam should stop it with the help of his hand; and if he has not strength enough to do it, then he should do it with his tongue; and if he has not strength enough to do it (even), then he should (hate it) from his heart and (keep away from it) that is the least of faith (eeman).
Sahih-Muslim
Hadith 79 Narrated-by
AbuSa'id al-Khudri
Prophet Muhammed also said: “ the Jews were cursed because – when they saw a wrong they would go and warn the wrong doers, and then they too would join in the wrong”; Muhammed (s.a.w) was reclining on a cusion , he then sat up erect and warned the Muslims against it. Sahih al Bukhari
So if we stand behind this Imam who takes a salary especially to conduct the Salah (prayer) tell me, will we get even one virtue for that prayer, remember we are partners to the Haraam of the Imam and and also to the Haraam of the Masjid members who are paying the wages; as a True Muslim it is our duty to stop this Haraam and make someone who does not take wages for conducting the Salah, conduct the Salah and most appropriate would be the Masjid leaders like the Amir, or chairman or president of the Masjid, or someone with some important position in the Masjid or Muhallah (that area); for it is the duty of that person to conduct the prayer in the name of Allah without taking any wages for it.

At this juncture it is important to mention that the imams of the Masjid would say that Abu Bakr R.A. took money from the public treasury – please understand that as for Abu Bakr R.A., the public forced him to take the money from the Government treasury because he was nominated as the Khaleefah ( the ruler of the entire Muslim nation) and if he were to go looking for a job who was there to attend to the Nation’s needs, so he was paid for looking after the welfare of the public and not for conducting the prayer, also since he was the leader of the Muslims it became his duty to conduct the prayer in the Masjid. We should also remember that during the time to Abu Bakr R.A. there were hundreds of Masjids and none would be able to prove that the Imams of these Masjids took salary for conducting the prayer.

It is not fitting for a Believer man or woman when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Apostle to have any difference of opinion in this matter: if anyone disobeys Allah and His Apostle he is indeed on a clearly wrong Path. Al Quran: 33-36
Secondly, some of the Imams taking salary for conducting the Prayer will say – the Madarasa’s have given a Fatwah that imams conducting Immamath (prayer) could take salaries for their work, but tell me just because the majority of the Europeans drink liquor could we pass a Fatwah that drinking liquor to a nominal amount is allowed, will you accept this Fatwah, well say you accepted this Fatwah would Allah excuse you because the Alims of the Masjid have passed a Fatwah declaring it as Halaal - well you know it is very stupid, but that is the same story with the Imams taking wages for conducting the prayers; if you are really wise you should not waste the virtues Allah gives you for Salah (prayer) and mind you next to saying Kalimah La ILAHA ILLALLAH the most virtuous of the deeds is Salah, each Fard Salah could be even equal to hundreds of years of the life in the hereafter or more no one really knows how much the Magnanimous Allah would give for each Fard Salah that we make, and wasting this is not wise, the best one could do is form his own Jamath or congregation and conduct the Prayers if not pray alone – for this is far better than loosing all the virtues for the Salah.

Thirdly, we could enlighten the public as to these norms and conditions and give the Imam some post as Manager or caretaker of the Masjid or hire him to teach Arabic to the public and pay him for these or any of this job, and ask him to conduct the prayer only in the Name of Allah and for Allah’s sake alone and not for the money; this too would be totally Halaal. The Madarasa teachers could be Wardens or Deputy wardens, or teach Arabic, or some other subjects like maths, history, science, etc. etc. to the children and get paid for it – it would be totally Halaal and they could in addition teach the children Quran and Hadees just in the name of Allah and not for the money.

Kindly don’t miss the part III of Halaal & Haraam document.

Halaal and Haraam – Part – III

Many people are unaware of the fact that dividing religion into different groups and sects are also Haraam, for Allah and His Messenger have strictly warned us against this segregation; there is a very famous Hadees stating that the Ummah of Muhammed (s.a.w) would be divided into 73 groups and that 72 groups out of them would be going to Hell; and that only one amongst them would come to Paradise (refer 73 groups in Islam). Also Allah says in the Quran:

Be not like those who are divided amongst themselves and fall into disputations after receiving clear signs (Quran & Hadees); for them is a dreadful penalty. Al Quran – Sura 3:105
Allah states very very clearly that “be not like those” i.e. do not be like those who have divided religion into groups because for them there is a dreadful punishment; and in another verse Allah says:

As for those who divide their religion and break up into groups thou (Muhammed) hast nothing to do with them in the least:
Al Quran Sura – 6:159
Not only is there a dreadful punishment for those who segregate religion into groups but also Allah puts it in a crystal clear manner that our beloved Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w) would have nothing to do with those people who have divided themselves into groups; now tell me is there any chance for these people who have divided themselves into different groups to get any virtues for their ammals (virtuous deeds). Please remember, Allah and His Messenger have strictly advised us not to divide, but Satan to destroy us tempted us to segregate and some people put aside Allah and His Prophet’s advise and listened to Satan and divided themselves, now, will Allah give any virtuous for the deeds of these people who have divided themselves: absolutely NOT – for Rasool (s.a.w) also has strictly warned us against dividing or joining segregated groups and has also advised us to remain as Muslims only:

I asked, "What do you order me to do if such a thing should take place in my life?" He said, "Adhere to the group of Muslims and their Chief." I asked, "If there is neither a group (of Muslims) nor a chief (what shall I do)?" He said, "Keep away from all those different sects, even if you had to bite (i.e. eat) the root of a tree, till you meet Allah while you are still in that state."
Sahih-Al-Bukhari-Hadith
Hadith 4.803 Narrated-by
Hudhaifa bin Al Yaman
Muhammed (s.a.w) advises us that in case there are a lot of segregation and the people torment us to join some group or the other and if circumstances are driving us to very critical situation of our life with too much problems, he the Messenger of Allah says that we should go and stay alone and even if we have to live on plants and their roots we should live so till we die, and never never join any of the segregated or divided groups.- In short live as a Muslim and Join the Muslim Jamath and follow the Muslim Amir ( leader) and if you don’t have a Muslim Jamath or a Muslim Amir then don’t join any of the groups i.e. Hanafee, Shafee, Malikee, Hambalee, Shia, Sunni, Tawheed, etc., etc., etc., that is don’t join any of the segregated groups but just live as a Muslim alone following Quran and Hadees till you die; i.e. till you meet Allah. ONLY THEN you would be able to get and save your virtuous for all your good deeds which you do. So could you guess as to how many people are striving for Paradise in earnest. Allah Says:

A number of people from those of old
And a few from those of later times.
Al Quran – Sura – 56:13,14
Allah says that a number of people from ancient times and only a few from the recent time would be coming to paradise – friends I’m writing this article to request you to be one amongst the few who would be coming to paradise and to help as many Muslims as possible to be eligible to come to Paradise. Do not segregate or divide but just be a TRUE MUSLIM and follow the Quran and Sahih Hadees; and earn the bounteous, abundant, magnanimous amount of virtues Allah gives us for all the small and big virtuous deeds we do as a True Muslim.

Wishing you All the VERY BEST
