(“Fast when the moon is sighted, and break your fast when the moon is sighted. If the skies are cloudy, and you are unable to sight it, then complete thirty days of Sha`ban and fast the next day.”)

The hadith of Kuraib in the first century of Hijrah is well known: Kuraib reported that Umm Fadl, daughter of Harith, sent him (her son Fadl) to Mu`awiyah in Syria. I (Fadl) arrived in Syria and did the needful for her. It was there in Syria that the month of Ramadan commenced. I saw the new moon (of Ramadan) on Friday. I then came back to Madinah at the end of the month. `Abdullah ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) asked me (about the new moon of Ramadan) and said, ‘‘when did you see it?’’ I said, ‘‘We saw it on the night of Friday.’’ He said, ‘‘(Did) you see it yourself?’’ I said, ‘‘Yes, and the people also saw it and they observed fast and Mu`awiyah also observed fast.’’ Whereupon he said, ‘‘But we saw it on Saturday night. So we would continue to observe fast till we complete thirty (fasts) or we see it (the new moon of Shawwal).’’ I said, ‘‘Is the sighting of the moon by Mu`awiyah not valid for you?’’ He said, ‘‘No, this is how the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has commanded us’’ (Muslim).

எல்லாம் ‘VESTED INTEREST NOT FOR FOLLOWING AND PROPEGATING ISLAAM BUT FOR MATERIAL BENEFITS’.

The first day of fasting in Kuwait is usually coordinated with neighbouring gulf arab countries particularly Saudi Arabia.
Leading Kuwaiti expert on Moonsighting has suggested it is most likely that 11 August 2010 becomes our first day of fasting.. So we begin Tueday night and fast on Wednessday as our first day if his predictions come true. Otherwise we begin fasting on Thursday. Saudi announcement is important in this matter though.
Insha Allah will send you a report as soon as Ramadhan is declared. It would take 6-8 hours from now for us to know if we would fast Wednessday or Thursday.

• Pakistan:
1. Not Seen: Sultan Alam (MCW member) from Karachi reported: Today (Tuesday, 10 August 2010) was 28th Shaban 1431 in Pakistan and the moon was so defective in whole Asia that there was no solid proof in the history of astronomy to sight such a moon even by a telescope, hence there was no need to try to sight the moon in Pakistan but in spite of this fact, just to increase the trust of common people in the Science of Moon-sighting and because the people were confused due to the 29th Shaban in Saudi Arab, I requested the people to sight the moon today. Resultantly, On my request, nearly 300 persons (members of the moon-sighting committees of our institute "JAMIA-TUR-RASHEED" + my friends + their companions) tried to sight the moon at nearly 60 places all over Pakistan but the moon could not be sighted, as it was astronomically expected tonight. The Saudi sighting will be included in my ever growing list of UFMO'S (unidentified flying moon objects). I have always called a 'spade a spade' and in this instant I again question the Shari knowledge of all the Middle Eastern 'so called' scholars, who by their deafening silence, have aided and abetted in this continuous undermining of a section of Islamic Law. I shall not waste space and time commenting on the mid Eastern creation of demigods.
